Following reported murders at an online scam center near Hotel 68 in the junta-controlled town of Muse on China border, the junta’s military forces raided the facility and arrested several individuals involved in the illegal operations.

On April 4, junta-affiliated militia and police raided an online scam center near Hotel 68 in Muse’s Kaung Hmuton ward following the murder of a Chinese national.

“It’s true, a murder took place—a Chinese citizen was killed. The motive is unknown, but the incident led to the arrest of those involved in the scam operation near Hotel 68,” a source confirmed.

This incident comes after a previous raid on March 20 in Kaung Hmuton and Taw Ywet wards, where the junta reportedly seized Starlink devices and related equipment while arresting more than 80 individuals, including both Chinese and Myanmar nationals.

A police officer from Muse Myoma Police Station earlier told Shwe Phee Myay that nearly 50,000 people—comprising Chinese and Myanmar citizens—are involved in the online scam industry, locally known as Kyar Phyant, across Muse.
