Leaders of the Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) and the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) held talks and agreed to peacefully resolve their disputes following recent clashes, according to an MNDAA statement.
The talks took place in Thanlwin village, an MNDAA-controlled village near Lashio, the capital of northern Shan State. During the meeting, leaders from both sides agreed to ease tensions and resolve disputes through dialogue.
The meeting was attended by a delegation led by the MNDAA’s Deputy Commander-in-Chief and SSPP General Nai Pa. Officials from the United Wa State Army (UWSA) attended as witnesses.
According to residents, no territorial disputes currently exist between the MNDAA and SSPP near Hangna and Namma villages in Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State, despite previous conflicts in the area.
“MNDAA troops are stationed in Hangna. It’s calm there now, and we haven’t heard of any issues so far,” a resident said.
Clashes between the SSPP and MNDAA occurred on April 28 and 29 in Namma and Hangna villages in Hsipaw.
Both the SSPP and MNDAA are members of the Federal Political Negotiation and Consultative Committee (FPNCC), which the UWSA leads.
