Manli: The Village Ravaged by Junta Airstrikes
You are now seeing Manli village, situated between Hsipaw and Namtu Townships, it has been attacked by junta airstrikes for three times.
The first attack occurred on December 29, 2023, when bombs struck the village school and monastery, burning them down. For the second time, on January 10, 2024, the junta military launched another airstrike on the same school and monastery.
To ensure the children could attend school and the monks could stay at the monastery, village residents collaborated to rebuild and repair the damaged buildings themselves.
However, on June 12, 2025, at around 1:15 AM, just before their work was complete, a junta military fighter jet dropped 300 lb bombs on the same monastery and school again while the entire village slept.
