The High Court of the Shan State Progress Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) sentenced 24-year-old Sai San, also known as Sai Sar San, to death for raping and murdering his 14-year-old cousin, according to an SSPP statement.
The incident occurred on June 14 when Sai San lured his cousin, Nang San Hom, under the pretext of helping her find a job and took her to a banana plantation near Nam Hoo Village in the Bawgyo Village Tract of Hsipaw Township, where he sexually assaulted her.
According to his confession to the SSPP, after raping Nang San Hom, Sai San strangled her, repeatedly stabbed her in the neck and abdomen with broken glass bottles, and dumped her body beneath a banana tree.
Following an investigation by the SSPP court, the tribunal handed down the death sentence, and Sai San was executed on August 30.
