Poe Labar, Sep 6, Lashio

An explosion at a scrap iron shop in junta-controlled Lashio, the capital of northern Shan State, injured four residents, according to the sources in the city.

At around 12:30 p.m. on September 3, an explosion occurred at a scrap iron shop on Hnin Si Lane 4 in Lashio’s Ward 1.

“Something exploded while they were hammering the scrap iron,” a resident said. “We were all frightened by the loud noise. Four people were injured, and we heard it was a mine explosion.”

Also on August 6, a junta soldier was injured after stepping on a landmine near Mal Han Gate, at the edge of Lashio.

This came after the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) withdrew from Lashio on April 21, following a China-brokered ceasefire agreement. The junta’s military then entered the city and resumed its administration.
