The Lashio Bypass Bridge, which was destroyed during Operation 1027, reopened on Wednesday evening, according to the drivers.

“The bridge has finished repairs. Both big and small vehicles are now allowed to pass, starting from Wednesday evening,” a driver who regularly travels the Lashio bypass told Shwe Phee Myay.

Lashio is the capital of northern Shan State that the junta regained control of in April.

During the battle for Lashio, the bypass bridge was destroyed by a mine. After seizing the city, the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) built a temporary bridge for passage, but it also collapsed on August 18.

The MNDAA no longer repairing the temporary one, instead it has accelerated the rapairs of the original bridge and ten days later on, the bypass bridge was reopened.

With Lashio under the military junta’s control, most drivers are using the bypass route due to security concerns about entering the city.
