Landmine Survivor Struggles to Rebuild Life After Losing Leg
Daw Mya Aung lost her leg to a landmine planted by the junta’s military.
A resident of San Phate Village in Hsipaw Township, she stepped on the mine around 9 a.m. on May 29 while working on her farm.
According to residents, villagers had fled due to the war in Hsipaw, which began on August 9, 2024. During that time, junta troops occupied San Phate Village and planted landmines.
Daw Mya Aung and her family were among the villagers who fled their homes. After the war in Hsipaw ended, they returned along with others. Unfortunately, soon after her arrival, she lost her left leg.
