The death toll killed by the junta military’s airstrike launched at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday into Mogok, a township controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), has reached up to 21 people, according to the residents.
A junta military airstrike on Ngar Pat Tawng village in eastern Mogok Township killed 16 civilians—five men, ten women (including one pregnant), and a child—and destroyed at least 10 houses.
“Five members of a single family were killed, including a child, an elderly person, and a pregnant woman. We’re still clearing things up. The bomb landed directly on their house, and their bodies were torn to pieces. We found more bodies as we started clearing the debris with a backhoe. The victims were all poor, including masons and vendors. Five houses were completely destroyed, and another 10 people were injured,” said a resident.
Today at around 12:30 a.m., the junta’s military dropped 500lb and 250lb bombs on Kaung Khant and Ho Ton villages in Mansi township, Kachin State, killing two residents.
Last evening’s airstrike on Mogok follows a separate airstrike on August 9 at 6:30 p.m. in eastern Mogok, which killed five civilians, including a monk, and injured three others.
