Poe Labar, Aug 9, Mogok
The junta’s military launched an airstrike on the eastern part of Mogok, a township controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in Mandalay Region, at around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, killing 5, including a monk, and injuring 3.
A junta airstrike on Mogok on Saturday evening killed five people, including a Buddhist monk, a 71-year-old man, a 32-year-old woman, and two children aged 11 and 8.
“The junta dropped two 500-pound bombs, and one of them hit a monastery. Because the monastery and the houses are located so close together, the houses were also hit. Another monk and two women were injured,” a source said.
On the same day, the junta’s military also launched an airstrike on Hsipaw Township at around 4:30 p.m. The attack severely injured one man and damaged seven houses.
Just a few days earlier, on August 2, the junta’s military dropped two 500-pound bombs on western Mogok, killing 13 residents and injuring 14 others.
According to figures compiled by the Shwe Phee Myay News Agency, military junta airstrikes launched between July 1 and July 31 in Kyaukme, Mogok, Nawnghkio, Mongngawt, Hsipaw, Monglon, and Kutkai townships killed at least 30 civilians and injured 46 others.
