Children in mountain villages across Mong Yaw Village Tract (Lashio Township) and Tangyan Township in northern Shan State are suffering from itchy skin conditions with no access to clinics, according to volunteer sources working in these areas.

In previous years, some of these villages had self-established clinics. However, their closure has left residents struggling with health problems.

Although self-established clinics existed in these villages in previous years, their closure has created difficulties for residents.

“Various diseases are occurring there, but the major issue is itchy skin conditions,” a volunteer stated.

“Some people are also suffering from ascites and normal fevers. They’re facing trouble because they no longer have clinics in their villages.”

He added that he hoped healthcare organizations able to provide services would go to these areas.

Whenever Shwe Phee Myay reporters have visited these areas in past years, they have learned of resident deaths due to insufficient clinics and harsh climate conditions.

These villages are located in remote areas, far from major towns and cities. The population of these areas has also not been recorded in census data, as most residents lack national ID cards.
