Joint forces of resistance groups in Karenni State seized the junta’s Infantry Battalion 134 base in Hpasawng Township and shot down one of its fighter jets, according to a statement released on July 3 by the Karenni Armed Forces’ Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS).

Joint resistance forces began attacking the Infantry Battalion 134 and 145 headquarters in Hpasawng on June 25.

They seized Infantry Battalion 134 on July 3. Additionally, on July 2, joint Karenni resistance forces shot down a fighter jet that was bombing Hpasawng.

“Since the beginning of our offensive against the junta’s infantry bases in Hpasawng, the junta’s military has launched airstrikes in and around that area with Y-12, Y-8, and FTC-2000G fighter jets, as well as other types of military transport aircraft,” the JCS statement said.

Karenni JCS forces found a crashed China-made FTC-2000G fighter jet around 2 p.m. on July 3, near Hpasawng Town.

Two dead bodies of junta officer pilots were found with the aircraft.

Separately, the junta regime released a statement indicating that their ground control centers lost radar contact with one of its fighter jets during a nighttime flight to remote areas.
