The Brotherhood Alliance, comprising the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA), and Arakan Army (AA), has extended its ceasefire for another month, according to a statement released on the evening of June 2.

Myanmar’s major rebel alliance implemented a unilateral ceasefire with the ruling junta’s military in April and May, aiming to facilitate an international humanitarian response to the devastating March 28 earthquake.

On the other hand, the junta’s military also declared a ceasefire related to the earthquake, starting on April 2 and extended until the end of June.

Despite the announced ceasefires, clashes continue to break out in Ta’ang regions and Rakhine State between the junta’s military and the TNLA and AA.

During its own declared ceasefire period, the junta’s military seized five outposts controlled by the TNLA in Nawnghkio Township, northern Shan State.
