Hom Lao, May 25, Hsipaw

Hsipaw, a township in Northern Shan State currently re-controlled by the junta’s military, was targeted in a shock missile attack, local residents told Shwe Phee Myay.

The town was struck by two shock missiles at around 7:30 p.m. on May 24, at around 7:30 PM. It remains unclear which group carried out the attack.

“Two missiles were fired. I don’t know which group launched them,” the resident said.

“I heard they landed in the town center and inside the military base, but it’s not confirmed yet.”

While the military controls Hsipaw town, the villages along the main Hsipaw-Lashio highway are controlled by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA).

In a similar incident on April 22, shock missiles were fired into the compound of Infantry Battalion 41 based in Lashio.
