Revolutionary forces have been forced to withdraw from the entire Mogok–Thabeikkyin road section they once controlled, according to the ground sources familiar with the situation and they told Shwe Phee Myay that the junta’s military has now regained full control of the entire route.

“Revolutionary forces have had to retreat. The entire Mandalay–Madaya–Singu–Thabeikkyin–Mogok road section has been retaken by the junta,” a revolutionary fighter in Mogok Township told Shwe Phee Myay.

On January 15, the junta’s military announced that its unit advancing from the Phawt Taw junction in Thabeikkyin Township had linked up with another unit descending from the Mogok side, establishing full control over the Mogok–Thabeikkyin road.

In addition, the junta’s military stated that efforts are underway to fully reopen the Mogok–Thabeikkyin–Singu–Madaya–Mandalay road.

Until late 2024, the Mandalay PDF and its allied forces controlled the Mogok–Madaya section, enabling them to pose a direct military threat to Mandalay city.

However, following a series of counter offensives launched by the military junta in early 2025, revolutionary forces steadily lost territory. As a result, in January the entire Mogok–Mandalay road section fell back under junta control.
