Shwe Phee Myay, Dec 15

Junta Chief Min Aung Hlaing, blamed the Brotherhood Alliance—comprising the Arakan Army (AA), Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), and Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA)—which spearheaded the Operation 1027, for worsening the public’s socio-economic conditions.

In his message issued today, to mark the 51st anniversary of Rakhine State Day, he asserted that armed conflicts across successive eras are misguided acts of terrorism disguised as political causes.

He accused these groups of prioritizing separatist ambitions over collective efforts to build the Union. The Myanmar military leader further emphasized that adherence to the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) remains the only path toward establishing a peaceful and prosperous nation.

The junta’s military lost control of more than 30 townships in northern Shan State and Rakhine State during the Operation 1027 launched by the Brotherhood Alliance, including the loss of two regional military commands.

By early 2025, with support from China, the junta’s military managed to regain control of several towns in northern Shan State previously held by the TNLA and MNDAA.

In Rakhine State, however, the junta’s military has been unable to reclaim territories seized by the AA and has resorted to conducting near-daily aerial bombing raids on AA-controlled areas causing several deaths of the civilians.
