Resistance forces carried out a drone bombing attack on the junta’s military troops stationed inside Mogok Hospital, in Mogok, a township in Mandalay Region which recently returned to junta control following intervention by China, ground sources told Shwe Phee Myay.

According to a ground source, on the evening of December 11 resistance forces used a drone to drop six bombs on the hospital and its surrounding area where the junta troops were positioned.

“The junta troops had taken positions inside the hospital. They dropped the bombs on that spot—six bombs with a drone,” the source said.

He added that the exact casualties and damages from the drone strike remain unclear. Meanwhile, skirmishes and fighting between the junta’s military and resistance groups continue in areas outside Mogok town.

The Pyin Oo Lwin–Mogok and Mogok–Momeik road stretches remain under the control of junta forces, while outskirts of these towns are held by revolutionary forces.

It has been nearly two weeks since junta’s military troops re-entered Mogok town, yet administrative functions have not resumed, and most residents have still not been able to return to their homes.

Local residents report that although the junta’s military allows travel through the town’s entry and exit points, inspections are conducted with strict scrutiny.

Junta forces entered Momeik and Mogok towns—previously controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)—on November 29 and 30, following intervention by China.

Revolutionary groups based in Mogok, including the Mogok Strategic Commmand, the Mandalay People’s Defence Force (MDY-PDF), and the Mogok People’s Defence Force (Mogok PDF), have publicly declared their intention to continue defending the town.

On December 11, U Nay Phone Latt, spokesperson for the National Unity Government (NUG), announced that they will launch attacks against the junta’s military who entered Mogok and Momeik.
