At least 49 civilians were killed and 71 others injured in junta-led airstrikes and drone attacks across northern Shan State and Mogok Township in Mandalay Region during October, according to a statement released today by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
Among the 49 fatalities were 2 monks, 10 children, 16 men, and 21 women. The 71 injured included 6 monks, 26 children, 20 men, and 19 women.
Furthermore, the statement reported significant infrastructure damage from the bombings, including 175 homes, 5 schools, 7 monasteries, 9 dormitories, 6 other buildings, 2 livestock farms, 5 shops, 1 tea factory, 4 motorcycles, and 10 cars.
The casualties, injuries, and destruction occurred across northern Shan State—including Kyaukme, Namtu, Manton, Hsipaw, Monglon, Mongngawt, Namhsan, and Momeik—as well as in Mogok Township, Mandalay Region.
Clashes between junta forces and the TNLA continued through the end of October.
However, during China-brokered talks on October 28 and 29, a ceasefire agreement was reached, resulting in the handover of Mogok and Momeik towns to the junta.
