Shwe Phee Myay, Oct 29
The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) announced today that it had signed a ceasefire agreement with the junta’s military following intense fights, with China acting as mediator, according to its statement.
The statement indicates that the ceasefire agreement was signed during the 9th round of talks held in Kunming, China, on the previous days of October 27 and 28.
The agreement stipulates that the TNLA must withdraw its troops from Mogok and Momeik towns, which they had captured.
In return, the junta’s military must cease bombing from the air and launching offensives into the Ta’ang region, and observe a ceasefire from their current positions.
The statement also includes that this agreement has come into effect today, October 29.
