Shwe Phee Myay, June 10
Rakhine people temporarily residing in China, along with the Arakan Army (AA), have each donated 10 million Kyats to support the rehabilitation of local residents from Kaung Tat village in Namhkam Township, northern Shan State, which is controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).
On June 8, Rakhine people staying in China collectively donated 10 million Kyats through the Ta’ang Civil Society Network (TCSN).
Additionally, today, the “Mee Nagar” (Fire Dragon) Military Region unit of the Arakan Army (AA)—a brotherly ally of the TNLA—also donated 10 million Kyats to the Kaung Tat Village Rehabilitation Committee.
On May 31 in Kaung Tat village, Namhkam Township, northern Shan State, an explosion occurred at a gelignite explosives warehouse belonging to the economic department of TNLA, killing 41 local residents.
Additionally, 154 local residents were injured, and 680 homes and buildings were destroyed. As a result, aid is still urgently needed for medical supplies and rehabilitation efforts.
To support their recovery, various ethnic armed organizations have made donations: the Kachin organization (KIO/KIA) donated 55 million Kyats; the United Wa State Army (UWSA) donated 10 million Kyats; and the Shan State Progress Party (SSPP) donated 20 bags of rice and 10 million Kyats.
Furthermore, various local and overseas communities—including Ta’ang, Kachin, Shan, Chinese, Khonli Lisu, and Bamar peoples—have also participated in the donation efforts.
