Junta military troops, currently on an offensive north of Nawnghkio Township in northern Shan State, have reached Kangyi village, where the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) is offering intensive resistance, leading to heavy clashes.

“They’ve started entering Kangyi village, but they haven’t been able to seize the entire area. Meanwhile, the TNLA is fiercely resisting. It’s still a bit early to be concerned for Nawnghkio town because the TNLA won’t give up easily,” said the source.
He added that the junta’s military is attacking with an abundance of drones and artillery shells.
As clashes draw closer to the town, eight villages around Nawnghkio are fleeing, residents told Shwe Phee Myay. Kangyi village, which junta troops are now entering, is located just 11 km north of Nawnghkio town.
At a press conference held on Thursday, Lway Yay Oo, spokesperson for the TNLA, warned residents of Nawnghkio Township to be aware of security and safety concerns related to the ongoing clashes in the area.
