The junta’s military troops in Nawnghkio Township fired artillery shells into Nawng Pein Village in Kyaukme, a township controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in northern Shan State, killing one displaced person and injuring another, according to the residents.

On Saturday afternoon, junta military troops in Nawnghkio fired artillery shells into Nawng Pein, leaving both village residents and those who fled Nawnghkio seeking shelter there deeply concerned.

“They fired around 7 to 8 shells into the villages. A chicken vendor was killed, another displaced person was injured, and houses were also damaged,” a villager said.

The artillery shells fired by the junta’s military landed in three community wards in Kyaukme.

These shellings caused panic among residents and displaced persons, prompting many to flee to safer areas.

On July 20, a similar attack on Naungpyit Village killed a mother and her son who had been displaced by conflict.

Additionally, at around 5 p.m. on July 26, junta forces launched an airstrike on the Shwe Late Pyar Hotel in Mogok.
