The junta’s military fired artillery shells into Nawnghkio Town controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in northern Shan State, severely damaging several houses, according to sources on the ground.

The junta’s military troops stationed in Kangyi village fired artillery shells into Zone 9, Market Ward on Wednesday evening.

“They fired at least five or six shells last night, and at least six more this morning. The shells landed in the western part of Kyaukgu Tawya monastery, and one house was hit in its kitchen,” said a resident.

Clashes continue between the TNLA and the junta’s military in Nawnglin, Nawngaw, Lonsan, and Nawnghpaw villages in Nawnghkio. The junta’s military has dropped at least 28 air-dropped bombs via drones and fired at least 68 artillery shells, according to the statement of the armed group.

The statement also said that the junta’s military dropped at least 14 air-dropped bombs and fired 54 artillery shells into Nawnglin village and its surrounding area on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, around 11 p.m., the junta’s military launched an airstrike into eastern Mogok Township, injuring 4 residents. This incident followed a prior junta airstrike on Tuesday on a crowded area in Kyaukme that killed at least 4 and severely injured 14 others.
