While flooding was happening in Kyaukeme, a township controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation (TNLA) in northern Shan State, a 3-year-old child who was missing for days have been later on found dead, according to the residents.

His name was Pyae Phyo Maung, a Gurkha, and he had been missing since August 7, when most wards in Kyaukme were flooded due to heavy rains, a resident told Shwe Phee Myay.

“The boy had been missing since August 7. They found him on August 10 and cremated him,” the resident said.

The body of Pyae Phyo Aung was recovered on August 10.

According to figures compiled by Shwe Phee Myay, at least five residents have died in Kyaukme Township from flooding caused by heavy rains since August 6.
