The junta’s military launched an airstrike on Waso Monastery in Kyaukme, a township controlled by the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) in northern Shan State, injuring three novice monks and damaging 20 houses.

At around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, a junta fighter jet dropped two 250-pound bombs on a monastery in Pein Nae Kone Village near Kyaukme.

Residents said it was a fortunate turn of events that no casualties or injuries were reported, even though the junta’s airstrike damaged about 20 houses, as most residents had already fled.

Kyaukme Town is largely deserted, with most residents having fled. The roads are empty and quiet, especially during the day. In the meantime, the junta’s military and the TNLA continue to have intense clashes in and around Nawng Pein Village.
