Shwe Phee Myay, Oct 15

The Ta’ang Land Council (TLC) issued an appeal yesterday, urging the public to come together in support of civilians affected by the junta military’s relentless artillery shelling and airstrikes.

The TLC also reported growing evidence that junta forces are increasingly conducting bombing attacks deliberately targeting civilians.

Between September and October 14, junta military aircraft carried out airstrikes on villages across northern Shan State, including the townships of Kyaukme, Hsipaw, Namtu, Mogok, Momeik, Mongngawt, Monglon, Namhsan, and Manton.

The TLC is the highest political governing body to oversee executive, legislative, and judicial functions within the territories controlled by the Palaung State Liberation Front (PSLF) and its armed wing, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA).

Aerial bombing attacks targeting villages have resulted in numerous civilian casualties, including children. Homes, schools, and religious buildings have also been damaged, forcing residents to flee to safer areas.

The TLC further warned that, as junta forces continue to deliberately target civilians nationwide with airstrikes and heavy artillery, the public must remain vigilant and exercise caution to avoid the dangers of aerial attacks.
