It was reported that an 8-year-old schoolgirl living in Ward 8 of Kutkai town was found dead with stab wounds on the road after returning from the Primary School in her ward at around 3:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

“The incident occurred near the golf course and Plot 1 of Ward 8. There are also drug users in that area as well. A Chinese elder found the child and informed her father. He said he saw two people leaving the area. She was slashed across the throat with a knife and left there. In previous days, her father would come early to pick her up before school finished,” said the source.

The man said that the perpetrator of the murder has not been apprehended as of now, and the Ta’ang Police under the TNLA is still investigating.

This incident of a child being murdered is the first time it has occurred since the TNLA gained control of Kutkai.
