Damage to the road connecting Mogok Township, Mandalay Region and Monglon sub-township, Kyaukme district, northern Shan State, is causing daily traffic jams, affecting hundreds of vehicles.

Both townships are under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA). The road is most severely damaged in the area between Monglon and Lal Gyi village in Mogok Township, forcing some large vehicles to wait for days before they can cross.

Although the TNLA has temporarily closed six road stretches connecting to Mogok for repairs, including the route between Monglon and Mogok, most of the road remains in poor condition.

Because the Kyaukme-Nawnghkio road remains closed due to ongoing clashes, most drivers are now using the Kyaukme-Monglon-Mogok road for travel between northern Shan State and Mandalay.
