The Pa-O National Organization (PNO), a militia loyal to the junta’s military, has burned down over 100 houses in three villages in Hsihseng Township, southern Shan State, according to the residents and Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO).
Khun Yein Yan, the spokesperson for the Pa-O National Liberation Organization (PNLO), the political wing of the Pa-O National Liberation Army (PNLA), stated that the PNO troops burned down houses in the villages of Nawng Boe, Nawng Htaw Ywar Thit, and Tapuu Htoe.
“The people from these villages are not yet able to return, as they were driven out by the militia troops. They took the residents’ valuables and then burned down the houses. Some of the houses were very nice, well-built ones. Although we don’t have the details of these losses yet, at least 100 houses were already burned,” he told Shwe Phee Myay.
Khun Yein Yan explained that the PNLA took drone footage of the villages being burned down by the PNO as a form of evidence. He added that the Pa-O militia burned the houses without any clashes on the ground.
Regarding the PNLA’s claim of arson attacks on these villages, the PNO has not yet released any statement.
The PNO/PNA is a Pa-O militia group that is loyal to the junta’s military and is currently fighting against resistance groups in southern Shan State and on the border between Shan and Karenni States.
