The Hsipaw-Lashio Bridge, located at the edge of Hsipaw Township in northern Shan State, remains impassable due to a mutual blockade by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) forces and troops from the junta’s military, according to the residents.
A source indicated that while people can still cross the bridge on foot, vehicles are not permitted through. As of this morning, traffic blockades were still in place near the bridge, causing some drivers to turn back.
Reports confirm that as of 6:00 a.m. today, the bridge in Hsipaw has been closed indefinitely, making it impossible for any vehicles, including cars and motorcycles, to pass through.
“The Hsipaw bridge is under a mutual blockade by the MNDAA and the military. They are the ones preventing anyone from crossing,” said another Hsipaw resident.
Junta troops are blocking the bridge on the Hsipaw Town side, while the MNDAA forces are positioned on the Lashio side, effectively sealing off both ends.
Military tensions escalated in Lashio Township after the Military Council reportedly requested the MNDAA to withdraw from its outpost in Ho Ha village on November 11, a demand the MNDAA forces refused, according to a source.
