Clashes between the junta’s military and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) are intensifying around Nawng Pein Village in Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State. The fighting began after the junta launched an offensive into the area on August 19.

The junta’s military continues to drop bombs from Y12 aircraft and drones on the Nawng Pein area. However, the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) is putting up a strong resistance, preventing junta troops from moving through the village. Clashes are still breaking out in and around Nawng Pein as a result.

The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) is facing strong pressure from China, even as it holds meetings with junta military officials. The results of these discussions, however, remain unknown.

Even while meeting with officials from the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA), the junta’s military is continuously launching airstrikes on TNLA-controlled Kyaukme and Mogok Townships. These attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and the destruction of many homes.
