Fighting is continuing between the junta and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) as the junta attempts to launch an offensive on Mogok, a township controlled by the ethnic armed group in Mandalay Region, frontline sources told Shwe Phee Myay.

“They are still attacking, but they aren’t launching a big offensive yet. They are afraid because our side is using more drones,” said a frontline source.

On Saturday afternoon, the junta used a suicide drone and a fighter jet to bomb a TNLA position in retaliation for casualties it suffered.

“On Friday, they only dropped two bombs on the house where they were sleeping. It seems to have hurt them quite a bit. On Saturday, they came and dropped both a suicide drone and a jet. Thank goodness no one was hit,” the frontline source added.

Some military experts said that the junta’s offensive toward Mogok is a military strategy to weaken the TNLA troops who are defending Kyaukme to prevent the town from falling.

However, the location of the junta troops, near Yadanar Theingi on the Mogok main road, is a place where they can receive reinforcements from both Nawnghkio and Pyin Oo Lwin.
