The bridges connecting Namtu Township and Mine Baw Village in Manton Township—areas under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)—remain unrepaired after being damaged by flooding and erosion, according to the residents.

A woman who traveled the route on Sunday reported that the Mine Taik Bridge, located between Namtu and Mine Baw villages, had its foundation collapse due to water erosion. As a result, only motorcycles can currently pass.

“Cars can’t cross the Mine Taik Bridge. One side of the bridge has collapsed and it hasn’t been repaired yet,” she stated. She added that the water level in the Nam Yee creek is expected to recede by tomorrow.

The Namtu–Mai Baw road is a vital route primarily used by residents of Manton and Namtu Townships, especially vendors traveling to the five-day market in Mine Baw Village.

However, continuous rainfall between November 1 and 6 caused significant flooding across northern Shan State. This heavy rain affected several villages in Namtu, Manton and Kutkai Townships, leading to widespread damage to local rice fields.
