Ye Man, Dec 25, Momeik
The clashes are currently underway between junta troops and revolutionary forces in Momeik Township, northern Shan State, the residents familiar with the situation told Shwe Phee Myay.
According to a female resident, clashes broke out near the Yaytakon and Magyibin areas starting early morning on Wednesday.
“I heard that fighting is happening near Magyibin and Yaytakon villages. It started at 6:30 a.m. For now, the sounds [of gunfire] have gone quiet,” she said.
With Chinese assistance, junta forces advanced into the towns of Momeik and Mogok—previously under the control of the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA)—on November 29 and 30.
At present, the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) controls the Momeik–Mabein road, while the TNLA holds the Momeik–Manton road. The junta military, meanwhile, maintains control over the Momeik–Mogok road.
